Good news- we can soon set sail along our stunning Gold Coast waters for a birthday, engagement party or romantic date with Gold Coast Sail! Owned and operated by Trevor and Michelle Lindsell, Gold Coast sail will be relaunching on the 13th of May, taking guests on their 45-foot yacht under the name of Sol Cazador.
Ahead of their exciting launch, we interviewed Trevor and Michelle to get the down-low on their tours, what’s included and a bit about their love for the art of sailing!
For those who aren’t familiar, tell us a bit about GC Sail.
We’re a family owned and operated charter business- our yacht is a 45 foot mono hull that’s impeccably maintained and fitted with custom cushioning throughout! There are covered seating areas and deck spaces to experience the thrill of cruising and take in the wonderful scenery of the waterways – natural and manmade.
Ahead of your relaunch, what can guests expect when taking a tour with you?
This year we’re excited for our relaunch and to offer more premium charters of a 3.5 hour duration, allowing us to take in the wonderful Spit and Marina Mirage vistas! As the sole operators of the yacht, we would love to provide the perfect venue and experience to celebrate special occasions. We’ve hosted many anniversaries, birthdays and marriage proposals. This year we look forward to providing guests with the perfect friends and family celebrations, customising where we can.
How many guests can you cater for?
We cater for up to 15 guests, however 12 really is the sweet spot to allow a little more wiggle room on board. We hold a five star rating food licence and provide a range of fresh snack and food choices for our various cruise options – morning, lunch, afternoon and sunset. Fresh local fruit, antipasto and
cheese platters, gourmet wraps, slices, pastries and cakes are some of the options available. We are fully licenced and offer a wide range of wines, beers, mixers and soft drinks to purchase throughout the cruise.
Which spots do you visit on your tours?
As we leave our Sanctuary Cove berth, we wind our way through the Coomera River passing Sanctuary Cove, Paradise Point and the Sovereign Islands, with some breathtaking real estate and natural beauty to be seen.
We then enter the Gold Coast Broadwater and can either head north toward Couran Cove Resort or south towards the Gold Coast. We sail alongside South Stradbroke Island and also take in views toward Ephraim Island, Labrador and the beautiful mountain ranges!
Time permitting, we can sail to the Spit, passing by the Seaway or entrance to the ocean and then head down toward the Sundale Bridge. This allows for our guests to see the many attractions of the Gold Coast, including Sea World, Southport Yacht Club, Broadwater Parklands and Marina Mirage.
What makes Sol Cazador so special?
She is a sturdy and handsome yacht providing a safe and roomy vessel for you to enjoy your experience. A mono-hull yacht provides the perfect sailing experience, in its purest form. There’s nothing better than being under sail, with the wind in your hair and the tranquillity that you cannot get
from a motor boat.
We are meticulous in our presentation and maintenance of the yacht. There’s customised cushioning throughout that allows all guests the ultimate in comfort and safety wherever they choose to sit. The cockpit is fully covered should you wish to shield from the elements or you may choose to experience the thrill of the sail from the bow or front deck of the boat.
You’re so passionate! What’s your history with sailing?
Trevor and I have been sailing since our early 20s and have owned catamarans, runabouts and a previous 33 foot yacht. Our yacht was in charter in Sydney for some years, featuring in TV shows like Married At First Sight, Farmer Wants A Wife and The Biggest Loser! Trevor has done much coastal sailing, transporting yachts from Sydney for the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show. He’s highly qualified and very experienced, holding a YachtMaster OffShore Certificate.
Michelle is also a skipper and host. Our love of and commitment to sailing is mirrored in the safety standards, presentation of the yacht and individual, personalised experience we seek to bring to every cruise and guest!
Gold Coast Sail will run charters every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, commencing on the 13th of May.
