Construction is in the final stages on the covered berths at Sanctuary Cove Marina with 48 berths to be completed by mid 2021.
The $10million marina redevelopment by parent company Mulpha commenced in 2019 with the addition of 61 new berths including a dedicated superyacht arm catering for vessels over 50m.
The addition of the covers to the berths is a first for the Australian recreational marina industry. Starting on G Arm, this construction will accommodate vessels with an air draft of up to 15m.
Construction of the steel framework and assembly of the covers was completed offsite before being barged across the Sanctuary Cove Marina harbour and installed in pieces.
The commercial grade fabric used to cover the berths is called Serge Ferrari Precontraint, a pre-stressed material which offers a thicker protective coating, high tenacity polyester yarn and equal tension warp and weft. This results in a superior product offering that is lightweight, highly durable in all weathers and offers solar protection to the vessels.
G Arm is expected to be completed by late April 2021 and H and I Arms will commence construction after this year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show that takes place May 20-23.
The Sanctuary Cove Marina expansion forms part on an ongoing long-term investment program to continue to enhance Sanctuary Cove facilities for the benefit of all stakeholders including guests, residents and tenants.
