Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November

Sanctuary Film Festival

The Sanctuary Film Festival returns this month with a showcase of cinematic genius set against a spectacular backdrop, with workshops and screenings taking place in The Marine Village across the weekend of November 25 and 26.

In 2017, the event steps up a notch with the debut of an FREE all-day outdoor film extravaganza on Saturday, November 25, featuring roving entertainment, workshops and a unique kids film festival, culminating in a showcase of 14 thought-provoking short films by talented emerging Australian and international filmmakers.

Among films screened at the event will be BAFTA Los Angeles winner and Australian Academy Awards nominee James Francis Khehtie’s The Telegram Man.

The film, which stars Australian international screen legends Jack Thompson, Gary Sweet and Sigrid Thornton, was selected from more than 15,000 entries as one of 50 semi-finalists for the Your Film Festival – a global film competition conducted by Ridley Scott, Michael Fassbender, Google, Emirates and the Venice Film Festival.

The brainchild of Mike Goldman and Bianca Zouppas, Sanctuary Film Festival kicks off early at 11am on both days with performers and musicians creating a carnival atmosphere, while two industry-inspired workshops will run throughout the day to spark the imagination of budding young actors and film fans.
