SANCTUARY COVE ROLLS OUT RED CARPET FOR RECORD NUMBER OF REELS AT FOURTH ANNUAL FILM FESTIVAL

SANCTUARY Cove will welcome film buffs and movie lovers alike as the fourth annual Sanctuary Film Festival gets underway in the precinct from Saturday, December 1 to Monday, December 3.

Tickets are now on sale for the three-day boutique film festival which will showcase more films than ever before with a total of 38 films shortlisted to screen at the event, selected from over 150 submissions from 14 countries.

Proudly supported by Mulpha Sanctuary Cove, the festival has established itself as an industry mainstay, attracting submissions and stars from all over the world.

Sanctuary Cove director of marketing and events Johan Hasser says the Sanctuary Cove precinct is thrilled to yet again host the Gold Coast’s favourite independent film festival.

“We are proud to support such an iconic local event that not only unites and recognises the International film industry but brings together the local community in a united love for the magic of film,” says Mr Hasser.

“We invite Gold Coast locals and visitors to the area to venture to the idyllic setting that is Sanctuary Cove to experience the festival for themselves and enjoy all that is on offer.”

This years’ festival sees the return of the Gold Coast’s biggest outdoor film festival held at the Open Air Cinema, showcasing some of the world’s best unseen films.

Families and film fans are invited to grab their picnic blanket and popcorn and secure a spot on the grass for a night under the stars as a number of thought-provoking short films are shown on the big outdoor screen.

Hosted by Heather Maltman from Sea FM, the compilation of films will also include the work of Ms Maltman herself, with her hilarious film A Skype Exchange, screening at the festival for the first time.

There will be other opportunities for avid movie-goers to catch one-off screenings at The Village Theatre including The Island Of Doctor Moron, along with exclusive screenings of the festival’s Documentary and Australian Feature Film Award winners.

Guests can rub shoulders with industry VIP’s as the red carpet is rolled out for a number of after-dark soirees when some of the industry’s biggest stars come out to play including the cast and crew of Dead Squad: Temple of the Undead.

Sanctuary Film Festival founder and director Mike Goldman says the festival is a celebration of film and aims to unite writers and directors, actors and crew along with audiences to inspire and instigate the creation of more movies.

“The festival brings together the film industry and the film enthusiast for a true celebration of the magic of film,” says Mr Goldman.

“This years’ event is proud to showcase a record number of films with something for everyone in a program brimming with free and ticketed events along with VIP packages for those wanting the special treatment with reserved seating and food and beverage packages.”

Festival guests are encouraged to enjoy the sights and sounds of The Marine Village before heading to the event with a host of acclaimed restaurants and bars within walking distance of the venues.
